Back in December I had a Basal Cell Carcinoma removed form the left side of my nose (as I previously blogged about). A painful procedure. Actually the procedure didn't hurt a bit because my nose was numb but the injections (there were approx 18-24 of them) hurt like crazy. The procedure (it's called Mohs) left a rather large hole in my nose so I decided to have plastic surgery (that is called a Mohs Closure) to repair my nose. Another VERY painful series of injections to numb the nose.
Well it has been about 3 or 4 weeks since the last surgery during which, a small piece of cartilage was taken from my ear and implanted in my nose. Of course there were jokes about having ear wax in my nose or ear hair growing out of my nose.
Today I was sitting in line to have my car washed and I pulled down the visor and popped open the mirror on the back of the visor (it has a light to see better) and to my horror there was a one inch long HAIR growing out of the side of my nose!!! I tried to pull it out but it wouldn't budge and of course it was right in my line of vision so I could see it without the aid of the mirror. I couldn't wait to get home to cut it off.
The other reason I'm dissatisfied is that I have a small "bulb" on my nose now and the left nostril is smaller than the right one. At my age I don't really care about my looks too much but this is bothering me.
I will NOT subject myself to more plastic surgery to repair the botched job so I guess I'm stuck with ear hair growing out of my nose and a smaller nostril in addition to the small but only slightly noticeable bulb.
So please don't stare at my nose (even if it does look funny)

I'm sorry for your pain and disfiguration. I, too, have been disfigured this year. I had trip and fall where I hit my nose and it doesn't look the same as it used to. There is a little bump inside the nostril. It hurts, too. I think there is a piece of cartilage that is loose and causing problems. I can't wipe my nose like I used to and it makes me mad.
It doesn't look that bad.
